Structure of the Conference

The Conference Programme and the Registration are available.

Invited talks: the programme is made of about 25 hours of review talks focusing on the use of Grid Computing in diverse areas of Science and Technology.
Training programme: within the conference programme we will host a hands-on programme.

Areas of interest

Recent advances in Grid Computing in Science
- The following areas will be covered: High-Energy Physics, Biomedical applications, Nuclear Fusion, Meteorology and Climatology, etc...
New applications of Grid Computing
- As a part of programme, a hands-on tutorial with real examples of application porting of real application will be provided
Large high-performance computing infrastructures for Science and Innovation
- The status and the perspectives of the available infrastructures for Grid Computing will be reviewed.

Training programme

The hands-on programme aims at providing a practical introduction to Grid technologies to scientists and engineers with no or little experience in this field.

Participants will gain practical skills on how to quickly make use of distributed computing resources, the EGEE production Grid based on gLite middleware, for their applications. Hands-on exercises will give practical experience with using the application oriented tools such as Ganga and DIANE to support solving scientific problems.

The open-format of the course will provide space for discussion on the experience and the needs of the participants in using large computing resources. The participants will have an opportunity to get involved into using the Grid beyond the scope of the course and get further support for their applications.

The hands-on programme will be provided by the CERN Grid Support team in close collaboration with the Demokritos Lab (SISSA Trieste).

Attending the conference

Conference fee: there is no Conference Fee
Participants and students will be lodged at the Hotel Punta , a few minute walking from the Conference Venue. The price of room and board are:
- 80 euro for single room
- 70 euro accommodation in a double room
- 60 euro accommodation in a triple room
A reduction of 10 euro will be applied for participants who do not want lunch. Participants are expected to pay the Hotel at the end of the Conference, when leaving Losinj. All major credit cards are accepted.
Registration is open. A tentative number of 50 participants will be accepted.
